Diagnostic Dyslexia Battery

  • Ages: Students 7–18 years of age ​(1st – 12th grades)

  • Purpose: To diagnose dyslexia and/or gain insights into reasons a student is struggling in reading, writing, or spelling

  • Administration time: 2 hours depending on the age of the learner

  • Location: Must be done IN PERSON

  • Cost: $400.00

  • Tests included in battery: Standardized

    • Feifer Assessment of Reading(FAR)

      • Addresses four specific subtypes of dyslexia: dysphonetic dyslexia, surface dyslexia, mixed dyslexia, and reading comprehension deficits. 

      • Comprises 15 individual subtests measuring various aspects of vocabulary, phonological awareness, decoding skills, rapid automatic naming, orthographical processing, morphological processing, word memory, reading fluency (word and story; silent and oral), and comprehension skills.

      • Examinees in Grades 2 to College take 14 subtests

  • Test of Nonverbal Intelligence (KBIT2)

  • Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration | Sixth Edition

    • Assesses the extent to which individuals can integrate their visual and motor abilities

  • Criterion-referenced (nonstandardized) tests:

    • Handwriting analysis

    • Written expression (fourth grade and above)

    • CORE Reading Maze Comprehension Test

Upon completing this assessment battery, parents will receive the FAR report and a diagnostic report regarding any diagnosis and suggestions if merited.  This report can been given to the school in order to help with the IEP process.
